One of a select few in the area, we are able to offer patients, unique personalised lenses which give instantaneous, effortless, clear vision that feels as natural as possible. Sausages and Eyes
The building in which we are situated, was first occupied by a stationary shop in the early 1900s and then from 1934 to 1993 by the family business Kennedys. Kennedys were a notable chain of local independent shops, situated all around South London, renowned for selling excellent quality cold meats, sausages and pies. Unfortunately, the advent of big supermarkets made the businesses not viable and the shops were all gradually sold off. The shop became an Opticians’ practice in 1993 and is still serving the local community to this day.

opticians since 2007
The business has been jointly owned by Anand and Lucy since 2007. They fell in love with the historical feel of the building and have done their utmost to retain as many of the original features as possible A lot of the features within the shop date from the 1900s including the feature double wooden entrance doors, beautiful Edwardian green tiling on the walls, the suspended ceiling, character woodwork and original marble butchers’ slab which still has visible knife marks.
Many of our patients have been visiting the shop since they were small children and have moved from looking wide eyed at pasties and pies on the cold counters, to looking wide eyed into our high tech digital retinal camera.
